Want to learn how to tell a joke? Thought about standup but don’t know where to start? Our professionally-crafted lessons and readily accessible mentors will guide you on the art of standup comedy.

Join us for three 2-hour lessons over three weeks, including support at up to four open mics, culminating in a special graduation performance with classmates, and a taped performance.

Meet the pros:

Andy Curtain | The Riff

Australian comedian Andy Curtain had a huge 2019 touring Asia with Jim Gaffigan, Jim Jefferies, and working with acts including Kevin Hart, Dave Chappelle and Gad Elmaleh. He featured on SiriusXM, Comedy Cellar Radio, The Riotcast Network and The Sydney Morning Herald. He is a founding writer, actor and director for the Mamahuhu YouTube channel which has amassed hundreds of millions in views, he hosts the Stuck In The Middle podcast, and spent the last 9 years touring through the US, Asia and Australia.

Beyond his work as an artist, Andy is also the head of Live Nation Comedy Asia, the largest comedy promoter in the region, and General Manager for The Riff comedy club in Hong Kong.

Vivek Mahbubani | Comedy Central

Vivek Mahbubani is a Hong Kong-bred bilingual stand-up comedian performing in both Cantonese and English.

Having been crowned the Funniest Person (in Chinese) in Hong Kong in 2007 followed by his victory in the English category at the Hong Kong International Comedy Competition in 2008, Vivek has had the opportunity to take his sense of humor all over the world including Hong Kong, China, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Australia, Canada and USA.

Having been ranked as the top comedian in Hong Kong, in 2014, the World Famous Laugh Factory in USA ranked Vivek as one of the top 10 comedians in their Annual Funniest Person in the World Competition.

In 2015, he was handpicked as one of the comedians to represent Asia’s best in Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s inaugural “Comedy Zone Asia” shows.

In 2016, he was featured in Comedy Central’s first ever “Stand up Asia!” shows. One of Vivek’s passions is reading and his favorite book is Sun Tzu’s Art of War. Oddly, his favorite color is hot pink.

Ben Quinlan | Comedy Central

Hailing from an Australian father and Chinese mother, Ben Quinlan in a Hong Kong born and raised stand-up comedian.

Ben is a regular headliner at major comedy clubs around Asia, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Manila, Taipei, and Cambodia. He appeared on Comedy Central’s Stand-Up Asia! Season 2 and was the winner of the 2017 Hong Kong International Comedy Competition.

Ben has also opened for a number of international comedians on their Asian tours, including Russell Howard, Kevin Bridges, and Doug Stanhope. He sold out his past ten 1-hour comedy specials in Hong Kong, with over 1,500 tickets sold.

Aside from wearing his comedy hat, Ben is a regular TEDx speaker and a prominent keynote presenter in the financial services industry. He is regularly interviewed by leading news channels (including Bloomberg, Reuters, and CNBC) as the CEO of his own strategy consulting firm, Quinlan & Associates. Ben’s unique corporate and comedy background has seen him featured in a number of leading international media publications, including SCMP, TimeOut Magazine, XXIV, IFR Asia, and eFinancialCareers.
